NDIS Support Work
If you have a self-managed plan, we can provide NDIS services to support clients who need help with capacity building and improving the quality of their life.
How does counselling fit into my NDIS plan?
To access counselling services through your NDIS Plan, you must have the item ‘Improved Daily Living’ in your plan. Improved Daily Living provides funds to access an allied health professional and is generally flexible across different therapeutic services. You can use some or all of your Improved Daily Living funds for counselling if you think it will benefit you to achieve short-term or long-term goals.
Many of my clients need long-term support with mental health issues and already have a mental health diagnosis that prevents them from reaching their full potential. Counselling can help you to learn focused psychological strategies (FPS) to ease feelings of overwhelm by applying learned grounding techniques.
What topics do we talk about?
Counselling is a valuable service as it tailors therapeutic supports so you can work through a problem or issue with a trained professional.
The biggest benefit of counselling is that it provides a safe space to discuss what is going on in your life without fear of judgement. These can include a range of topics such as:
- Parenting
- Exploring gender identity and/or sexuality
- General life advice
- Grief and loss
- Stress, anxiety, and depression
- Relationship issues
- Work and career issues
- Addiction
- Abuse
- Body dysmorphia
- Trauma
- Building resilience, confidence & self-esteem
No issue is too big or small, and there are many ways a counsellor can support your concerns, personal recovery goals and improve wellbeing.
How can I help?
Whether you have a disability or not, everyone needs support at some stage in their life. Counselling is a great resource to address short-term and long-term issues and to help guide you through difficult challenges. Counselling can also help with goal setting and help navigating challenging relationships. Sally can connect with our client’s carers and support coordinators to assist with the mental health challenges of daily living. This can include things such as shared living, life transitions, community participation and social and economic participation. We tailor our counselling sessions to deliver therapeutic support based on the participant’s individual needs.
